Eric C. Larson

Executive Partner

Eric has been involved in principal investing since 1985. Prior to founding Linden in 2001, Eric was Executive Vice President and Managing General Partner of First Chicago Equity Capital (FCEC), which he co-founded in 1991. He was previously a partner and investment principal at First Chicago Venture Capital, now Madison Dearborn Partners. Eric joined The First National Bank of Chicago in 1984 in its First Scholar management training program.

Eric has been a board member of over twenty public and private companies, including several roles as non-executive chairman. For Linden, Eric has served as a director of Ranir, LLC (Chairman), Focused Health Solutions, Behavior Centers of America (Chairman), and Barrier Safe Solutions International and is currently Chairman of CORPAK MedSystems. He is also a director of The National Food Laboratories and its parent holding company, Safe Foods International Holdings.

Outside of Linden, Eric and his wife, Dr. Barbara Wu, focus on three scientific research-related activities: health sciences; exploration and discovery; and the environment. He is a board member of the Nutrition Roundtable at the Harvard School of Public Health, the Institute for Food Safety and Health at the Illinois Institute of Technology and Illinois Venture Capital Association. Eric holds an AB in Biology from Harvard College and an MBA from the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business.

David F. Solomon

Executive Partner

David is currently a partner at Hildred Capital Partners, a family investment firm that invests in a broad range of securities, including equity and debt across geographies and sectors, on both an active and passively managed basis. Hildred has a particular interest in private equity, including situations where the principles can apply their extensive management experience to help a company reach its full potential. Prior to launching Hildred, David spent thirteen years at Forest Laboratories, most recently as a Senior Vice President, Corporate Development & Strategic Planning, departing after Forest was acquired by Actavis for approximately $28 billion in July 2014. Prior to joining Forest, David practiced entertainment law at Paul Weiss Rifkind Wharton & Garrison in New York and also worked as a Director of Creative Affairs at Paramount Pictures and as an independent producer with Davis Entertainment, based at 20th Century Fox.

David previously served on the Board of Directors for Moksha8, a private Latin American pharmaceutical company, and Trevena, a public clinical stage biotech company. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of Lincoln Center Theater and the Municipal Art Society and on the Executive Board of the Yale Dramat Alumni Association. David graduated summa cum laude with a B.S. in Biology from Yale College, where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa and received the Jonathan Edwards Fellows Prize and the Henry E. Ellsworth Prize. He received his J.D. from Yale Law School, where he was a Coker Fellow and a Senior Editor of the Yale Law Journal.

Ed L. Michael

Executive Partner

Ed is the co-Founder and Managing Partner of LionBird, a venture capital and growth equity investing firm. Ed previously had a career at Abbott Laboratories spanning 26 years, where he most recently served as the Executive Vice President of Diagnostic Products, overseeing over $4 billion in revenues and 13,000 employees. Served on the Board of Directors of Cook County Health and Hospitals System (2012-2013) and is a current Director of NeuMoDx, Telesofia, VG Bio, and Ovuline. Holds undergraduate and Juris Doctorate degrees from Indiana University.

Fred M. Jaques

Executive Partner

Fred has successfully led and created value in food and beverage companies for over 30 years, including with private family-owned businesses and with large public businesses with over $2 billion in annual sales. Fred is currently President and COO, Sofina Foods. Prior to joining Sofina, Fred was the CEO of Santa Maria Foods and created significant value under its private equity ownership. Previously Fred was President of Dare Foods Limited, President of Labatt-Interbrew North America, President Kellogg Canada, and General Manager Cereal Kellogg USA. Fred holds an undergraduate degree from Queen's University.

Robert S. Hicks

Executive Partner

Robert is the President of Capstar Partners, a lower middle market family run private equity firm. He co-founded and is part of the current leadership team of two lower middle market businesses and also previously worked in the investment banking division of Credit Suisse in New York. Robert holds an MBA from Stanford University, is a Chartered Financial Analyst, and received an undergraduate degree from Vanderbilt University.

Todd D. Timbrook

Executive Partner

Todd has successfully led and created value in healthcare companies for over 20 years. Most recently, Todd was the founder and CEO of Home Solutions, a home infusion therapy provider that he grew on average by more than 20% per year to become a market leader with over 500 employees serving 16 states. Todd successfully sold the company on two different occasions, partnering with two leading private equity firms who invested in the company in 2007 and 2012. Todd began his career as a pharmacist and has owned and invested in a number of healthcare companies, including a company with almost $100 million in yearly sales. Todd holds a BS in Pharmacy from Northeastern University Bouve College of Health Sciences.

John M. Leonard, MD

Executive Partner

John has over 30 years of experience in healthcare management, research and development, and medicine including over 20 years at AbbVie and Abbott Laboratories where he managed almost $3 billion of annual R&D spending. Most recently, Dr. Leonard served as the Chief Scientific Officer and Senior Vice President of Research & Development at AbbVie. Prior to AbbVie's spin-off from Abbott, John served as Abbott's Senior Vice President of Global Pharmaceutical Research & Development since 2008. John has served as a board member of a number of organizations including Reata Pharmaceutical and Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Abbott Germany. Dr. Leonard received his MD from the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, trained in Internal Medicine at Stanford University, and received a BA in Biochemistry at the University of Wisconsin.

E. F. (Skip) Heizer III

Skip is an experienced developer and financier of high growth businesses with over 30 years of operating, investment and legal expertise. Skip is Chairman and Managing Member of Heizer Capital LLC, an investment and business development operation that provides capital and development support to public and private businesses, and is Executive Chairman of the following three businesses that were founded by Heizer Capital and its affiliates: Manus Health Systems, Inc. of Chicago, Illinois (operator of oral health care centers); LB Limited of Hamilton, Bermuda (underwriter of specialty insurance); and Trinchera Production Company of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma (owner of oil & gas investments). Skip serves (or has served) as an outside board member of or advisor to dozens of operating companies and investment funds in which Heizer Capital and its affiliates have (or have had) an interest. Earlier in his career, Skip was a partner at the full-service law firm Gardner, Carton & Douglas of Chicago, Illinois, where he specialized in working with high growth businesses. Skip serves as the sponsor liaison for The Heizer Center for Private Equity and Venture Capital at the Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University, and for The Heizer Award, which is given by The Academy of Management to each year’s best doctoral dissertation in the field of new enterprise development. Skip is a graduate of Southern Methodist University of Dallas, Texas, where he received a BS (Engineering) and a BBA (Business), and of Northwestern University School of Law, where he received a JD (Law).

Brian T. Lutt

Executive Partner

Brian has over 30 years of experience in leading global logistics businesses, including as the Chief Executive Officer of private equity backed companies. Brian is currently Managing Partner of Ulidian Partners LLC and Chairman of the Sequoya Automotive Group in South East Asia. Brian was previously the CEO of Goodpack Limited, a $1.2 billion KKR backed company. Prior to Goodpack, Brian was the Chairman of JGL Group, a product of a management buy-out (MBO) of Jacobson Global Logistic and prior to that the CEO of Jacobson Companies. Brian spent more than 25 years at APL Ltd and the NOL Group including managing the $1.3 billion logistics division APL Logistics. Brian holds an undergraduate degree from San Francisco State University.

Paul N. Simcox

Executive Partner

Paul is the Founder and CEO of NorthHaven Capital and serves as a Director of Villarboit Realty Partners. He previously co-founded Whiterock REIT and grew assets under management from $0 to $600 million, resulting in the company's public listing on the Toronto Stock Exchange and eventual sale to Dundee REIT for over $1 billion. Paul also worked at JPMorgan in the real estate private equity group and at Credit Suisse (DLJ) investment banking in New York. He holds an undergraduate business degree from the Richard Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario.

Tim E. Hoyland

Executive Partner

Tim is a Senior Partner at Oliver Wyman consulting and has focused on strategy, operations, and improving profitability for companies for over 15 years. He is also the President of Hoyland Real Estate LLC, a real estate investment company, and is a board member of 29 Pieces, a nonprofit organization. Tim holds an undergraduate degree from the Richard Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario.

C. Joseph Tyree

Executive Partner

Joe is the Founder and President of Pediatric Dental Associates of Indiana, a leading pediatric care and hospital dentistry practice for special needs patients for over 30 years. He is a Managing Partner of First Partners, Inc., a real estate development, leasing, and management company for 20 years. Joe is a former Chicago Regional Director of Fifth Third Bank and former Trustee of The Latin School of Chicago. He holds an undergraduate degree and DDS from Indiana University.

V. Nicholas Leopard

Executive Partner

Nick is the Founder & CEO of Accordion Partners, a private equity focused consulting firm providing services to the office of the CFO of portfolio companies. Accordion received ACG's "Consulting Firm of the Year" in 2013 and "M&A Services Firm of the Year" in 2012 and 2011. Nick has prior professional experience at mezzanine investment fund BHC Interim Funding, Bear Stearns investment banking, and CapitalSource Finance business development. He holds an undergraduate degree from Saint Joseph's University.
